Top 20 Movies of the 2016 Summer Season
Pixar is back on top, producing the #1 movie of the summer movie season, with a $482.5 million take. That is over $140 million more than the original FINDING MOVIE took in, back in 2003. We know DORY would do great numbers, just not the BEST numbers.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR did exactly what we expected, a great movie with huge box office returns. The $408 million take ranks fourth in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, behind IRON MAN 3 and the two AVENGERS movies.
The summer's biggest surprise? has to be how well SUICIDE SQUAD did. It is the fourth and last movie of the summer to bring in $300 million, topping established franchises of THE X-MEN, BOURNE and STAR TREK.
Biggest disappointment? It has to be INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE. Such a horrible, horrible movie. the $103 million box office is purely because of how good the first movie is/was. Hopefully, we will not see a third movie.
Who would have thought that a the reboot more movie goers were satisfied with was TARZAN and not GHOSTBUSTERS. Just $600k separate the two movies. Little success was given for THE LEGEND OF TARZAn, while the moon was all but given for the 2016 version of GHOSTBUSTERS.
