US Box Office Results: August 26 - 28, 2016
The horror film, DON'T BREATH finally knocked off SUICIDE SQUAD from the #1 spot. The Screen Gems film scared up $26.1 million, nearly triple the production budget of the film. The movie should clean up somewhere in between $50 and $70 million be the end of its run.
KUBO & THE TWO STRINGS rose one spot, from last week's debut, and brought in just under eight million dollars for the weekend. The $25 million total domestic take is still far off from the $60 production budget of the animated film, and the international box office looks even weaker then the USA's.
The new Jason Statham movie, MECHANIC: RESURRECTION, hauled in a disappointing $7.5 million, ranking 5th on the weekend. That puts the movie in the lower half of openings of a Statham film. The original MECHANIC film, n 2011, opened stronger, with $11.4 its first weekend.
