US Box Office Results: August 19 - 21, 2016
Make it three-for-three for SUICIDE SQUAD as it tops the weekend box office with another $20.7 million. That brings the 24 day total for the DC Comics movie to $262 million, currently making it the #9 movie of the year, with STAR WARS: TFA in its sights.
SAUSAGE PARTY continues to impress, as the animated movie made for under $20 million just hit the $65 million mark for domestic grosses. It should not have too much of a problem getting to $100 million before the end of its run.
Three new movies made the top 10, taking spots three, four and five. WAR DOGS (#3), collected $14.3 million, about $2 million more than the animated KUBO & THE TWO STRINGS (#4). The remake of the classic movie BEN-HUR could only scrounge up $11.4 million to take fifth place.
