US Box Office Results: August 12 - 14, 2016
SUICIDE SQUAD held onto its #1 ranking for the second week in a row. The DC Comics movie added $43.8 million to its total of $222.9 million, placing it in the #9 position of the year, about $60 million behind STAR WARS: TFA takin on 2016. SUICIDE SQUAD is also the fifth superhero movie to make the top 10 of 2016.
SAUSAG PARTY had a surprisingly strong opening weekend, collecting $33.6 million. That is 76% more then the $19 million production budget of the rated R animated movie. SAUSAGE PARTY also had the best per screen average, with $10,828 per screen.
Also new this weekend was a remake of PETE'S DRAGON, From Disney. The movie hauled in just $21.5 million in its first three days. It should just barely make its $65 million production budget by the time it leaves theaters.
