Preliminary Ratings: Sunday 08/21/2016

The final night of the 2016 Summer Olympics did not inspire viewers to tune in, as they did the previous week. Just 16.8 million viewers watched the closing ceremonies. that is just a little more than half of the audience that watched the ind of the 2012 closing ceremonies, in London. The A18-49 demographic took a beating, dropping 55% from 2012, from a 9.2 rating to a 4.1 rating. THE VOICE followed the Olympics, holding on to just 62% of its lead in audience and 65% of the A18-49 demographic.

ABC edged out CBS for the #2 spot of the night, thanks to a relatively decent showing by the three game shows. All three shows rose week-to-week, in viewers and demo ratings. CBS' BRAINDEAD was the lowest rated show of the night, posting just a 0.1 rating in Adults 18-34 demo.
