With the Olympics over, the summer weekly ratings were back to normal. NBC wins the week, with strong showings from two night's of AMERICA'S GOT TALENT, the new reality series, BETTER LATE THAN NEVER and a couple of NFL preseason games. AGT was #1 and #2, collecting an average of 11 million viewers, over the two nights. BETTER LATE THAN NEVER was the #5 show of the week, generating 7.4 million viewers. The network had eleven top 30 programs and programed 19 hours of original content.
CBS was the #2 network, with its show rebounding nicely. CBS too had eleven programs in the top 30, including three nights of BIG BROTHER, within the top 15. CBS only had 12 hours of original content for the week, including two NFL games on Friday and Saturday night.
ABC saw a modest rebound, but still remained in third place. The three Sunday night game shows all made the top 25, with CELEBRITY FAMILY FEUD ranking 14th, with 5.7 million viewers. That was ABC's top ranking show for the week. ABC only placed a total of five shows in the top 30, including two nights of BACHELOR IN PARADISE. Like CBS, the network programmed 12 hours of new shows.
FOX was improved, equalling ABC in the A18-49 demographic. Only two episodes of MASTERCHEF (#28 and #30), plus an NFL overrun game on Sunday, made the top 30. Of the 15 hours of regular programming on FOX, 6.5 hours was original.
