The first six months of 2016 has been very good for Disney. It has four of the top five movies, of 2016, including the #1 movie, CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIAL WAR. The company also has the #7 movie, STAR WARS: TFA. Of the five movies, all are part of different franchises the entity owns.
Superheroes continue to be the draw at the box office, with four movies in the top 10, including the BATMAN vs SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE release from Warner Brothers. That movie hauled in 330 million, for the #6 spot. FOX has two of the movies, with the surprise hit, DEADPOOL (#2) and the sixth X-MEN movie at #9.
Animation is also strongly represented, with PIXAR's FINDING DORY at the top of the genre, and still going strong. ZOOTOPIA made the top five, with $340.6 million. KUNG FU PANDA 3 ranked 10th overall, with THE ANGERY BIRD MOVIE right behind, in 11th.
