US Box Office Results: June 24 - 26, 2016

FINDING DORY continues to dominate the box office, hauling in another $73 million, bringing its 10 day total to a robust $286 million. That pushes it to the #6 position for the year and 74th on the all-time chart. With $300 million just around the corner, can the Pixar sequel make it to $400 million?

One of the more anticipated releases this summer came in a distant second for the weekend, as INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE could only grab $41.6 million in its opening weekend, and is projected for a total domestic take for at or below $150 million. Twenty years go, the original INDEPENDENCE DAY brought in $50 million, in less theaters and cheaper ticket prices.

Civil War pic, FREE STATE OF JONES, opened soft with just $8 million in its first weekend. That rankes in the middle of the pack for a Matthew McConaughey filme, ranking along side of EdTV abd TWO FOR THE MONEY.

ALICE IN THE LOOKING GLASS is about to exit the top ten and currently only has a domestic take of $75 millionabout $100 million less than its production budget. However, its international take is at $170 million, so the film should be in the black by the end of its worldwide run.
