US Box Office Results: May 6 - 8, 2016
It was not a mater of if the new marvel movie, CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR would be the #1 movie in the country, it was a matter of how much the movie would bring in in its first weekend. The answer is $182 million, making the fifth largest opening weekend take of all time. That ranks it behind STAR WARS: TFA, JURASSIC WORLD and the last two AVERNGERS movies. Worldwide, the movie has already brought in over $678 million.
A quick look at the big players still in the top 10. THE JUNGLE BOOK continues its money grab, collecting another $22 million and bringing its four week total to $285 million, domestically. ZOOTOPIA ranked 7th in this weekend's chart, with an additional 2.7 million, for a grand total of $328 million . And, BATMAN vs SUPERMAN, hanging on to tenth place, added another one million and its domestic gross is currently $327 million. All three movies are each within the top five of the year.
