US Box Office Results: April 15 - 17, 2016
Disney's second remake of THE JUNGLE BOOK rocked the box office this weekend, hauling in an impressive $103.6 million in its first three days. It is the second largest opening for an April release, right behind last year's FURIOUS 7 movie. THE JUNGLE book is on track for a box office take over $300 million and should rank in the top 10, be year's end. Worldwide, the movie has grossed $290 million.
The lasted movie from the BARBERSHOP franchise hit theaters and ranked a distant second place. The fourth film grossed $20.2 million, on par with the first two movies, and about $8 million more than the third, BEAUTY SHOP movie.
Also new to theaters was CRIMINAL, the action thriller starring Kevin Çostner, Ryan Reynolds and Tommy Lee Jones. The filmed pulled in just $5.9 million in 2,180 theaters and is on pace to gross under $20 million for its entire run.
