Preliminary Ratings: Tuesday 02/02/2016
CBS continues to hold back original episodes of its series, but that has not held back CBS from generating winning ratings. Tuesday, CBS preempted two hours of its line up for the annual SUPER BOWL'S GREATEST COMMERCIALS special, which generated 11.4 million viewers and a 2.1 rating in Adults 18-49. That is better than last year's show, in total viewers, and equals it in the demo. At 10 PM, the networked capped the night with an encore of NCIS, which placed second in the hour.
NBC was second on the night, thanks to the one-two punch of CHICAGO MED and CHICAGO FIRE. CHICAGO MED was second in its time slot with 7.6 million viewers and a 1.6 rating in the A18-49 demo. CHICAGO FIRE was #1 in the 10 PM slot, with 8.2 million viewers and a 18 rating in the demo. Both shows were flat from last week's episodes.
The CW edged out FOX for third place by drawing more total viewers and equalling FOX in all three key demo ratings. THE FLASH the #1 show of the night in Adults 18-34 and 4th in the A18-49 demographic.
FOX topped ABC in the key demos, but little interest after NEW GIRL still drags the night down.
ABC gave us the first new episodes of FESH OF THE BOAT and THE MUPPETS in two months, but viewers were not that enthused about the return. BOAT was the only program to do anything decent in the ratings, posting a 1.4 in the A18-49 demo. THE MUPPETS are dead, dropping about 40% of its lead in A81-49 audience. At 10 PM, WHAT WOULD YOU DID was third in the hour, with 2.3 million viewers and a 0.7 rating in Adults 18-49.
