Final Broadcast Ratings: January 14, 2016
How well did last week's three series premieres hold up in week two? It may depend on your perspective. ABC's MY DIET IS BETTER THAN YOURS only lost 15%, or 300k, in total viewership and the A18-49 demographic only dropped a tenth of a point. But, when you start with just 2.4 million viewers and a 0.7 demo, any number that is not UP is just as bad as where you started from. Plus, it was the lowest rated show, from the Big 4, for the night.
On CBS, the sitcom, ANGEL FROM HELL, lost 1.2 million viewers, or just over 15%, of its total audience of last week. The A18-49 demographic slipped from a 1.6 to a 1.3, down nearly 20%. Not horrible erosion, but not good either. It looks like this comedy will be done come springtime.
Last week's big surprise was how well SHADES OF BLUE DID for NBC. This week, reality set in. Instead of building upon its lead in numbers, SHADES OF BLUE dropped 14% out of THE BLACKLIST. Week-to-week, the series lost two million viewers (-23%) and the A18-49 demo fell a half a point (-28%). SHADES OF BLUE still is a promising series, with more upside than the other two shows of the night, but it must hold steady in week three.
FOX took the night with two hours of AMERICAN IDOL, but the second week dropped 1.5 million viewers and the A18-49 demographic dropped a half a point, from last week's Thursday premiere. It was still the #2 show of the night, in each ratings category.
