Could FOX Sports get Thursday Night Football Package?
It is being reported that FOX SPORTS will be making a very aggressive bid for the eight game, Thursday Night Football NFL package. The NFL sent out requests for bid to NBC, CBS, FOX, Turner and ESPN. ABC is also reported as to being "interested" in the package.
Over the air telecast of Thursday Night Football has been airing on CBS, in two separate one-year deals, which includes eight games on CBS and producing all TNF games for the NFL Network. Bids for the new one-year package are expected to go well above the $300 million CBS paid for the 2015 season.
FOX may over pay to get the two month package to help stimulate its broadcast network schedule and ratings. The network is regularly ranked in 4th place, in recent seasons.
The NFL is also asking bids from online services, like Yahoo, Alphabet (Google), Amazon and Apple, for an online package.
The NFL is expected to announce a decision by Super Bowl Sunday, February 7th.
