Complete Nielsen Ratings: January 4 - 10, 2016
The full Nielsen rankings and ratings from #1 to #95:
A new year brings a new weekly leader, with CBS sweeping the ratings. The network took three of the top five, six of the top ten, and 15 of the top 30. Not a singe CBS program ranked lower than 44th, and that was the PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS. It also helped that CBS had a Saturday night NFL Playoff game, instead the usual Crimetime programs and 48 HOURS.
FOX surged to the #2 spot of the week, winning four nights of the week, in the demos, and had the #1 program of the week, the NFC Wild Card game, which bled into primetime for about 70 minutes, on Sunday night. The game drew just under 39 million viewers and over a 12 in the A18-49 demographic. FOX also won Wednesday & Thursday with the two night premiere of AMERICAN IDOL. The old series is not near what it once was, but it still has a little life still in it.
Without SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL or THE VOICE, NBC fell to third place. Its top program, THE GOLDEN GLOBES AWARDS, placed 6th, collecting 18.5 million viewers and a 5.5 rating in the A18-49 demo. It was the only NBC program in the top 15. CHICAGO PD was the top series for NBC, ranking 18th. The network placed seven shows in the top 30.
What can be said about ABC? It had a really bad week, placing in a distant 4th place. Its top program, MODERN FAMILY ranked just 22nd and only three ABC shows made the top 30 of the week.
