US Box Office Results: November 21 - 23, 2015
To no one's surprise, THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKING JAY PART 2 was this weekend's top movie, drawing $101 million in its opening weekend. This was the biggest opening weekend by a film since JURASSIC WORLD opened in early June. As good as all that sounds, this is the worst opening weekend in THE HUNGER GAMES franchise, falling $20 million short of at year's movie and is over $50 million off from the first two films.
SPECTRE, now in its third week, collected an additional $14.6 million to bring its17 day total to bring its domestic total to over $150 million and its world wide take to over $667 million. SPECTRE will finish to be at least the second best grossing Bond film of all time.
The rated R comedy, THE NIGHT BEFORE, could only reach the #4 position of the week, bringing in just $10 million. The film should easily gross its $25 million production budget, will will fall short of a profit during its theatrical run.
