Primetime Cable Ratings: November 15, 2015

Depending on your point of view, the new AMC series INTO THE BADLANDS either had a strong debut, or had a warm reception, based on its lead in numbers, out of THE WALKING DEAD.

The new series collected 6.4 million viewers and a 3.1 rating in Adults 18-49. That is a better A18-49 debut ratings than NBC's BLINDSPOT or CBS' SUPERGIRL. But, BADLANDS only retained 50% of the total audiences, and just 48% in the A18-49 demo, of THE WALKING DEAD audience. The new series also lost 3.2 points in the A18-34 demographic.

When you compare BADLANDS to AMC's other new series this year, FEAR THE WALKING DEAD, is only grabbed about 60% as strong as the TWD companion series. The real test for BADLANDS will come in December, when TWD go on its winter hiatus and is no longer the lead in to BADLANDS.

What are your thoughts on INTO THE BADLANDS? Is it a keeper for AMC, or should it be dumped after the one season?
