TV News Roundup: October 26, 2016


  • Two new series get episode orders cut
  • CBS give full season order to a series
  • TBS axes freshman series
  • NBC adding more remakes to development list.

Multiple series get episode reductions:
Two of the front runners to be canceled first had their episode orders cut from the original 13 episode orders. ABC's BLOOD & OIL is now just producing 10 episodes. NBC did them one better,but cutting THE PLAYERs number back to nine episodes. If those numbers are to stay true, THE PLAYER would be the first to run out of episodes and be the first cancelled.

The NBA will offer fans access to live NBA games via social media. A link in the media post will link fans to the new NBA app that will allow them to access games on NBA League Pass. A free trial of the app is from October 27 to November 3.



CBS gives full season order to freshman series:
The new Tuesday night drama, LIMITLESS, just received its back-nine order to give it a full season for 2015-16.



TBS axes original sitcom:
despite being one of the stronger rated original sitcoms on cable TV, TBS axed freshman comedy, CLIPPED.



More SHERLOCK:
The BBC confirmed that production on a fourth season SHERLOCK, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, will begin this spring. The series will have a one episode Holiday special on January first, airing on PBS in the States.



NBC has two more remakes in the works:
NBC is busy looking at existing properties for their future programming. The first is a reboot of the anthology series AMAZING STORIES, which ran for two seasons in 1980's, and will be ran by Bryan Fuller. The second project is an adaptation of the theatrical movie, ALL OF ME, which was released in 1984, starring Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin.



More MONICA:
ABC Family had picked up MONICA THE MEDIUM for a second season.



More DUSK:
The English  language, Latino targeted network El Rey has renewed the series FROM DUSK TO DAWN for a third season.
