Ratings Review: MARRIED (Season Two)

I was amazed that FX had renewed the sitcom MARRIED, in 2014. It only drew a little over 600,000 viewers per episode and showed no signs of growth or catching on. The network paid for its poor judgement as the viewership dropped over 30% in season two and the demo lost roughly 50% in the A18-49 demographic.

In the Live+SD ratings, MARRIED averaged just 410,000 viewers and a 0.2 rating in all three younger demographic ratings. The DVR ratings would only add one, maybe two tenths of a ratings point in the A18-49 ratings, from its L+SD number.

We'll soon see if FX will make the same mistake twice, by renewing MARRIED for a third season, or if they learned from their mistake and cancel the comedy after 26 episodes.
