Preliminary Ratings: Monday 10/19/15
NBC had a near clean sweep in the Monday night ratings, wining the three reported demo categories, but coming in second in total viewers. CBS was second, mainly on the strength of THE BIG BANG THEORY. But NCIS: LA did beat CASTLE, for second place, in the 10 p.m. hour. ABC may have drawn the most viewers, but it lagged behind in all three demographics. FOX is treading water, with another fourth place finish, with MINORITY REPORT going under for the last time? And, The CW saw the monday night dramas rebound from less than acceptable premiere numbers, last week.
Let's have a quick look at how each series is doing since its season premiere as we have five weeks under our belts.
On ABC, DANCING WITH THE STARS is up 840,000 viewers and up in each of the three demo categories. The A18049 demo is up a tenth, while the other two are up two-tenths. CASTLE has lost nearly two million viewers and the two younger demographic categories are off by a tenth of a point each. the A25-54 demo is up a tenth.
CBS has both comedies and SCORPION showing losses across the board. THE BIG BANG THEORY, with the largest numbers to start with, is down 3.9 million viewers, -0.7 in the A18-34 demo, -1.0 in the A18-49 demo and -1.5 in the A25-54 demo. LIFE IN PEACES shows similar percentage of losses in each of its ratings. SCORPION is down 1.8 million viewers and -0.3, -0.4 and -0.5, in the respected demographic categories. The lone silver lining at CBS is NCIS: LA is starting to turn around. Viewership is up 800k and the A18-49 and A25-54 demo are up a tenth of a point.
FOX's numbers don't look as bad on the surface. Gotham has lost 10% of its viewership and three-tenths of a point in the two older demographics. The A18-34 demo remains flat. MINORITY REPORT has dropped about 40% of its viewership, which started out low, and between 33 and 60% in the younger demographics. If MINORITY REPORT is not cancelled this week, then FOX will just ride out the storm until mid season.
NBC is relatively healthy, THE VOICE has only dropped 1.3 million viewers, or about 10%, from its premiere, but the demo are starting to slide. Roughly 20% of the younger audiences have fallen off over the last five weeks. BLIND SPOT is falling back to earth, with 2.8 million viewers ditching the series since the premiere. It has lost over 25% of its A18-35 demo rating, a third of its A18-49 rating and 30% of the A25-54 demo.
