The first week of the 2015-16 TV season saw CBS and NBC split leadership of the five reported categories. NBC wins in all three demographic ratings, with CBS ranking second in each, but closing the gap as the demo category got older. CBS was tops in total viewers and households, with NBC right behind. FOX and ABC were further back battling it out for the #3 spot. ABC was superior in total viewers, households, A18-49 and A125-54 demos, but fox bested ABC in the A18-34.
CBS had the most top 30 programs, hauling in 13 shows, including six in the top ten. NBC placed seven shows in the top third of the chart, with SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL taking the #2 spot and both nights of THE VOICE inside the top 10. What NBC lacks in numbers, it makes up in hours. those three shows make up a third of NBC's schedule.
ABC pushed nine shows into the top 30, but its highest ranking program was DANCING WITH THE STARS, at #13. FOX could only place one program in the top 30, EMPIRE, but it is the best performing, non-sports program on network TV. Its Demo ratings in the mid to high sixes out performs all other shows, not involving a pigskin.
The CW will begin its fall season two weeks after everyone else, so it ruled the bottom of the chart, filling the last 12 spots with all of its shows.
