US Box Office Results: July 24 - 26, 2015
The Adam Sandler Movie, PIXELS, was not enough to dethrone ANT-MAN from the top of the US Box office chart. The comedy came in about $800,000 under the second week of the Marvel superhero movie. PIXELS ranks 16th for an opening weekend film, by the actor, falling below such non-classic as as JACK & JILL and BEDTIME STORIES. PIXELS should end up with under $80 million as its total domestic take. failing to make back its production budget.
ANT-MAN surpassed the $100 million mark, after 10 days of release.
Two more new releases, SOUTHPAW and PAPER TOWNS, finished 5th and 6th, respectively. SOUTHPAW, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Mad back about half of its $30 million production budget, while PAPAER TOWNS surpassed its budget.
Still in less than 700 theaters, MR. HOLMES stayed in the top 10, collecting another $2.8 million, for a 10 day domestic total of $6.4 million
