US Box Office Results: July 17 - 19, 2015

It was a decent, not great, opening weekend for the newest Marvel superhero movie, ANT-MAN. The flick collected just over $58 million, in its first three days, ranking it between the two FANTASTIC 4 movies, from the previous decade. Compared to the current wave of Marvel movies, it is about $7 million behind the first CAPTAIN AMERICA movie, from 2011. ANT-MAN should make its production budget back, with the domestic receipts.

MINIONS continues to rake in the millions, pulling in another $50 mill, to bring its 10-day total to an amazing $217 million. it already is 25th on the all-time animated chart and should easily rach over $290 million, placing it within the top 10.

The Amy Schumer movie, TRAINWRECK, did relative well, hauling in over $30 million. That is just $3 million behind Will Ferrell's GET HARD, as the top opening weekend by an adult comedy. We'll see if it has the legs to reach $90 million , as GET HARD did.

Released on just 365 screens, MR. HOLMES, starring Ian McKellen, rounds out the top 10, averaging over $6,800 per screen. That ranks it 4th, of the top 10 movies.
