US Box Office Results: May 8 - 10, 2015
With very little competition, AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON easily took the weekly box office chart, for the second week in a row. The Marvel action flick collected another $77 million, for a 10 day, domestic total over $312.6 million. It currently ranks as the #3 movie of the year, behind FURIOUS 7 and AMERICAN SNIPER, and is #42 on the all-time chart.
AGE OF ULTRON is about $60 million behind the first AVENGERS movie, which had over #373 million in its first 10 days of release. That 2012 movie went on to gross over $623 million, domestically, and ranks as the #3 movie of all time. If the AGE OF ULTRON continues its track, it should windup the #4 all-time grossing movie, topping THE DARK NIGHT for the spot.
The only new release this week was HOT PURSUIT, the buddy-cop movie with Sofia Vergara and Reese Witherspoon, as it brought in just $13.3 million It will be a task for it to bring it its production budget of $35 million, before the end of its run.
