Final Broadcast Ratings: May 21, 2015
Repeats rule the first day of the 2015 summer season, as seven of the 13 hours of programming, between the five networks, were encore episodes. CBS was the top network in each category, with FOX coming in second it in the A18-49 demographic.
CBS won the night on the shoulder of nothing but repeats. However, it was nice to see four different comedies airing from 8 to 10 p.m., instead of multiple THE BIG BANG THEORY episodes.
FOX aired the first two episodes of WAYWARD PINES, with the new episode, at 9 p.m., seeing growth in both viewership (22%) and in the A18-49 demographic (20%), over last week. The 1.2 demo rating is the best FOX has seen on Thursday nights, since the March 26 episodes of BONES.
ABC aired two hours of 500 QUESTIONS, which lost 500,000 in total viewers and 9% in the demo, from the previous night's numbers. A special primetime encore of JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE pulled in about what he does, at 11:35 p.m.
Placing 4th in all categories, and the only network with all original programming, was NBC's RED NOSE DAY. The comedy stunt programming fell flat, bringing in just 3.2 million viewers and sub-ones in both demographic categories.
