Preliminary Ratings: Wednesday 04/22/15

CBS and ABC battled it out for Wednesday night supremacy, in the ratings. Both networks posted a 1.9 rating in the A18-49 demographic, but CBS edged ABC in the A125-54 ratings, by a tenth of a point. ABC was a distant second place, to CBS, in total viewers, by a margin of 2.5 million viewers.

CRIMINAL MINDS was the night's most watched program, attracting 9.9 million viewers, 100k more than its lead in, SURVIVOR. CRIMINAL MINDS was down 500,000 viewers, from last week, and off by 17% in the A18-49 demo. But, MODERN FAMILY was back with its first original episode in three weeks.

ABC was up, as a network, by 900,000 viewers and 11% in the demo, from last week's average. The only difference is a new episode of MODERN FAMILY. All three surrounding comedies were up, over last week, with the anchor being in new episodes. MF was the top show in the two younger demographic categories.

FOX was a solid third place, with AMERICAN IDOL seeing its first week to week rise in close to a month. The numbers are not very good, but it is the best the network has to offer this spring.

The CW nearly topped NBC, falling short by a tenth of a point in the A18-49 demo and two tenths in the A25-54 demo.
