US Box Office Results: March 13 - 15, 2015

It was a spectacular movie weekend for Disney as the new, Live action theatrical of CINDERELLA easily topped the box office with over $70 million, in its first three days. That is slightly better than last year's MALIFICENT brought in $69 million for its opening weekend. CINDERELLA is second on the list of Disney's live action remakes of the classic animated movies, behind ALICE IN WONDERLAND (2010), which brought in a staggering $116 million.

The new Liam Neeson action movie, RUN ALL NIGHT, was a distant second for the weekend, collecting $11 million. That us about a quarter of what TAKEN 3 hauled in, in January, and about 10% off what WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES did, last September. However, it is the lowest opening weekend for the actor, since 2010's THE NEXT THREE DAYS brought in $6.5 million, its opening weekend. In that span, Neeson has released 16 movies, in wide release.

Continuing to do week, now in its fifth weekend, is KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE. It rose from fourth to third, this week, adding another $6.2 million to its domestic take. The Spy thriller crossed the $100 million mark, domestically, this past week and has brought its world wide total to over $257 million.
