TV News Roundup: March 23, 2015

  • NFL decides on blackouts
  • HBO adds two new series to lineup
  • FOX greenlights odd crime drama
  • British favorite calling it quits after one last season

KNIGHTFALL coming to History:
The History cable network is developing a scripted series based on the persecution and fall of the Knights Templar, titled KNIGHTFALL. The series comes from A&E Studios.

NFL nixes blackout policy for 2015:
During the annual owners meeting, The NFL voted to eliminate the blackout policy for the 2015 season. This will include preseason and regular season games, but the new policy is only for the 2015 season. Owners will reevaluate the subject after next season.

Six seasons and done:
British TV series, DOWNTON ABBEY, will end its run after the upcoming sixth season.

Andrew Clay back on TV:
Showtime has ordered six episodes of a new scripted series, starring Andrew Dice Clay. The format will be similar to fellow Showtime series, EPISODES, as Clay will play a stand-up comedian trying to make a comeback, in Las Vegas. I am sure pitiful ratings, like EPISODES, will also follow the Clay series.

Also getting a 6 episode commitment:
HBO has given the greelight to the limited series, CODES OF CONDUCT, created by Steve McQueen (12 YEARS A SLAVE). Not premiere date was released.

Also coming to HBO:
Snoop Doog will star in another new HBO series, about an 80's family drama.

FOX picks up odd crime series:
The series is title HUDINI & DOYLE and will be a fictional telling of magician Harry Hudini and writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle as a crime solving team. In real life, the two were friends, but did not crack any real cases together.
