Ratings Review: MULANEY (Season One)
It may be safe to say that the freshman sitcom MULANEY was the worst new series for the 2014-15 TV season. Content quality aside, for a comedy on a Big 4 network, it pulled ratings that even The CW would cancel a series for bringing in.
Right off the bat, with the premiere episode, FOX realized it had a dog on its hands. Following FAMILY GUY, it lost half of the A18-49 audience, the bread & butter of the Sunday night lineup. After just three weeks, FOX cut back episode order from 16 to 13. A couple of weeks later, FOX moved the series from 9:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. It may have been pulled of the air completely, had FOX not completely tanked in the fall.
For the season, MULANEY averaged 1.76 million viewers and a 0.7 rating in Adults 18-49. Just horrible numbers. No reason to sugar coat it.
