Preliminary Ratings: Tuesday 03/17/15
With a majority of the Tuesday night programs, in repeats, The CW had a perfect opportunity to showcase the series premiere of iZOMBIE. The episode drew 2.3 million viewers and a 0.9 rating in Adults 18-49. It did the comedies on FOX, but fell a little short of topping NCIS: NEW ORLEANS, in the A18-49 demo. It is roughly the same numbers a typical episode of SUPERNATURAL did, in the same time slot. But, the combo of THE FLASH and iZOMBI allowed The CW to take 2nd place, in the nightly average.
So, that leaves NBC to have a very easy time winning the night. But it seems a little empty that it won with just 8.5 million viewers and a 2.2 demo rating. THE VOICE was down 1.2 million viewers and 18% in the demo, from last Tuesday's numbers. The two comedies did win their hour in the A18-49 demographic, but starting at a sub-two ratings, may spell cancelation, come May. Compared to MARRY ME and ABOUT A BOY's premieres, in October, NBC was off by 10% in viewership and 12% in the demo. When CBS returns to original episodes of NCIS: NO, expect the numbers to have a sizable drop. CHICAGO FIRE also had a significant drop, losing 1.6 million viewers and off by 24% in the demo.
ABC's only original program, AGENTS OF SHIELD, did rise in the ratings, adding 500k in viewership and one tenth of a ratings point, in the demo.
HELL'S KITCHEN and THE MINDY PROJECT were mostly flat, week-to-week, with modest gains in viewership.
