AMERICAN SNIPER continues to roll, topping the chart again, in its third week of wide release. The Clint Eastwood film, brought in another $31.9 million, bringing its total domestic take to just under $250 million. It still has a shot to reach $400 million before its ends its run.
The top new movie of the week Was PROJECT ALMANAC, hauling in $8.5 million, tying PADDINGTON for second place. The sci-fi movie has already made up most of its $12 million budget, so it may not be a hit, but it did not lose money either.
The latest Kevin Costner movie, BLACK & WHITE, didn't strike a cord with movie goers. The drama managed just $6.5 million, in its opening weekend, but of the top 10 movies, it was in the least theater, under 2000.
The movie thriller, THE LOFT, bombed this weekend, collecting under $3 million. A third rate animated movie (STRANGE MAGIC), in its second weekend, grossed more money than THE LOFT. They better release the DVD very soon, so consumer remember the commercial for the movie release.
