Final Broadcast Ratings: January 11, 2015
CBS swept the Sunday night ratings, thanks to a competitive NFL playoff game, which drew 28.5 million viewers and a 9.0 rating in Adults 18-49. The game helped boots the rest of the CBS ling up, with 60 MINUTES and MADAME SECRETARY getting above average numbers. But, by the time THE GOOD WIFE aired at 10 p.m., the audience was back to regular levels.
NBC was a close second, with THE GOLDNE GLOBES AWARDS. The annual event for the international press to pat the back of Hollywood, hauled in over 16 million viewers and a 5.8 rating in Adults 18-49. That is down, significantly, from last years telecast. Viewership was off by two million viewers, while the demo rating was down 11%. Perhaps it IS time for new hosts of the show, if erosion is going to be this lager, year-to-year.
With the big events happening on NBC and CBS, ABC and FOX didn't do much in the ratings. FOX was a little below average numbers for the comedies, with THE SIMPSONS and FAMILY GUY each reaching a 2.0, in the demo. On ABC, week two of GALAVANT hit a sour note, dropping over three million viewers and 35% in the demo. Things only get tougher, in the coming weeks, for the new series, with more NFL games and awards shows going against it.
