US Box Office Results: December 12 - 14, 2014
After a three week run at the top of the chart, the third HUNGER GAMES movie falls to the new release, EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS. The biblically based move collected just under $25 million in its first three days out. A bit underwhelming for the epic film that coast $140 million to make. It will fall short here in the US, but the international take should allow the production to make back its money.
The other new release, TAKE FIVE, finished 4th, with $7.2 million, in under 1000 theaters. It averaged just under $7,400 per screen, second best of the weekend. The best per screen average was from the #10 film, WILD, which hauled in $1.6 million in just 116 theaters.
THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY PT.1, is on its way to $1 BILLION in world wide release. Currently, it has a combined $611 million, including over $334 million, internationally. On the all time list, MOCKINGJAY is still just #92 in world wide grosses.
