Ratings Review: DANCING WITH THE STARS (Fall 2014)

Sometime, we forget how important casting a TV show can be. DANCINGS WITH THE STARS did not change the show, yet as the season progressed, fans were coming back to see the Stars.

The started out like the last few years have started. Lots of viewers, a low A18-49 ratings, and then viewership would fall off from there. But, after the fourth episode, the numbers began to slowly rise again. From the low point of that episode four, to the finale, the ratings grew 76% in the demo and viewership jumped six million viewers, or 60%.

In the few Live+3 ratings published, DWTS would get about 1.0 to 1.5 million viewers added onto the L+SD numbers. But, those L3 ratings received were before the climb back to respectable ratings.

For the fall 2014 season, DANCING WITH THE STARS averaged 13.13 million viewers and a 2.1 demo rating. The series is off until early March and the new cast of dancers will not be announced until a couple week's beforehand. Hopefully ABC will learn from this season and make the spring season even better.
