Preliminary Ratings: Tuesday 12/09/14
CBS had an easy time sweeping the Tuesday night ratings, winning each of the three hours of the night. The night kicked off with the classic holiday special, RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER, grabbing 10.7 million viewers and a 2.8 rating in Adults 18-49. Y=That is down about 10%, from last year's airing, which ran the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. It was second on the night in both reported categories.
After strong showing of an NCIS encore, the VICTORIA SECRETS FASHION SHOW recorded the night's top A18-49 ratings, bringing in a 3.3 score, along with 9.1 million viewers. Compared to last year's show, it is down a tenth in the demo and dropped 600k in total viewers.
NBC was a very distant second place, battling off ABC, FOX and even the CW. THE VOICE pulled in a season low with a 2.2 demo rating, despite hauling in the most viewers. It sure does not look like fans are buzzing about who will be the new champion of THE VOICE.
The two comedies ranked last at 9 p.m. tying the CW, and the Agelina Jolie special all was also a last place finisher at 10 p.m. It was not that long a go, this season, NBC was easily winning the night.
Usually when there is a big crossover event on a network, the following week has a decent size drop in the ratings (See NBC Chicago/Law & Order crossover), but THE FLASH grew in viewership, from last week and SUPERNATURAL saw growth in both ratings categories. The CW tied ABC in the A1-49 ratings and is just a tenth of a point behind FOX and NBC.
