Preliminary Ratings: Monday 12/01/14
With the November sweeps done and the holidays are in full swing, repeats are starting up. CBS was all encore episodes, including a 4 episode marathon of MIKE & MOLLY. The marathon averaged 5.6 million viewers and a 1.2 demo rating. Not to shabby for a bunch of encores against original programming. New episodes of MIKE & MOLLY begin next Monday, after 2 BROKE GIRLS.
FOX gave us the fall finale of SLEEPY HOLLOW, but did not provide a decent lead in for it. The episode generated 4.5 million viewers and a 1.5 rating in Adults 18-49. that is better than last week's A18-49 number (1.4), with a lot better lead in.
ABC gave us the country music special, CMA COUNTRY CHRISTMAS. The two hour program was second in the time slot, pulling in just 8.9 million viewers and a 1.6 demo rating. That is an increase over last year of about 400,000 viewers and growth of one tenth of a ratings point, in the demo. But, last year's special began at 9 p.m., instead of 8 p.m. CASTLE held onto 94% of the audience it was delivered.
NBC was the only network with its regular line up intact. THE VOICE increased over last week's number by 1.4 million viewers, but just one tenth of a ratings point, in the demo ratings. Considering the decreased competition, especially in the 8 p.m. hour, THE VOICE should have generated a lot better number last night.
The same goes for STATE OF AFFAIRS. With the absence of a new NCIS: LA, and a depressed CASTLE, the new drama saw minimal growth in the A18-49 ratings (+0.1). Like THE VOICE, viewership was way up, by 1.2 million.
