Final Broadcast Ratings: December 28, 2014
The final SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL game of the season was the top show for the evening, getting 20.7 million viewers and a 6.6 demo rating. The Steeler beat the Bengals to secure the #3 spot in the AFC playoffs. The Bengals fall to the #5 seed and will travel for their playoff games.
CBS was the only other network with all original programming, but had the horrible luck have having not just one, but two blowout games as the back half of their NFL Doubleheader. The post game show did little to keep viewers in primetime. The regular series of the nights did do well in the ratings, with just the football game as competition. CSI posted one of its best numbers of the season, in the A18-49 ratings.
FOX had a great number for the late NFL game, but with the holidays, reporting of the final rating of that game has been hard to find. My guess is that the Packers/Lions game delivered 25-27 million viewers at 7 p.m. That number helped boost a repeat filled night of comedy, to levels near not-football infused original episode ratings.
ABC punted and ran a REVENGE marathon which did nothing in the ratings.
