Final Broadcast Ratings December 18, 2014
CBS had an easy time winning Thursday night, with most of its regular line up in original episodes, and the always strong THE BIG BANG THEORY posting the best numbers of the night, even with an encore.
Not only did CBS win every half hour in both viewers and demo, but it was the only network to have programs draw over 4 million viewers and a 1.0 demo rating. The impressive number of the night is MOM retaining 100% of the A18-49 demographic from the encore BIG BANG episode. it also kept 94% of the total viewers. It may take more time, but if MOM can continue to win BIG BANG viewers over, it could be the next anchor sitcom for the network. but that is a big IF.
NBC was all original, but with a depressed THE BIGGEST LOSER and a minor awards show, it could not really do any better than FOX and two repeat BONES episodes. THE BIGGEST LOSER posted its lowest numbers of the season, getting under a 1.0 in the demo ratings. The PEOPLE MAGAZINE AWARDS did not do much better the the recent Country Awards on FOX and the Hollywood Film Awards, on CBS.
ABC was third on the night, with minor interest tuning in to THE TASTE. Just over three million tuned into the food competition series.
The CW did relatively decent numbers, for the CW, with the iHeart Radio Jingle Ball special doing not much worse than an original episode of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES. The Christmas special was on par with total viewers, with last week's original episode of TVD, but was three tenths of a point off in the demo.
