The second week of December have CBS and NBC splitting the ratings leadership, with NBC taking the three demographic categories, while CBS rules the mass audiences and households. FOX and ABC battled it out for a distant third place showing, with the CW actually tying ABC in one category.
For NBC, it was the two big guns leading the way. SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL posted one of its best numbers of the season, grabbing 24.3 million viewers and an 8.6 demo rating. This was the second most watched game of the NBC package, this season, and the most watched for a Sunday night. The pre-game, FNiA, placed 4th, with 12.4 million viewers. The two editions of THE VOICE round out NBC's entries in the top 10.
The backend of the nBC schedule is what drug the averages down, despite a major gain with SNF. The only other top 30 program, by NBC, was THE MYSTERIES OF LAURA, at #23, Only one other program generated a demo rating over a two, and that was the 7:30 p.m. segment of FNiA, on Sunday night.
CBC rebounded nicely, after a poor showing the previous week. The network pushed 18 program in the top 30 and all but one of the non-Saturday night programs ranked in the top 40. THE AMAZING RACE placed 43rd.
ABC and FOX were far back, battling for third place. ABC topped FOX in Total viewers and house holds, but FOX edged ABC in the three demo categories.
ABC's lone top 20 entry is the sitcom MODERN FAMILY (#14), but added five more program in the top 30, three of which are on the same night as MODERN FAMILY.
The only top 40 entry for FOX is THE OT, at #3. All but four programs finished 60th, or worse.
For the CW, THE FLASH ranked 35th, in the A18-49 ratings.
