US Box Office Results: Oct. 31 - Nov. 2, 2014
The new drama film NIGHT CRAWLER had a tough time edging the horror film OUIJA, for the top spot on Halloween weekend at the box office. The Jake Gyllenhaal film has the lowest opening weekend, by a top film, this fall, with its 19.91 million take. NIGHT CRAWLER will have a tough time getting to the $30 million mark by the end of its run.
The rest of the top 10 films are in multiple weeks of release. #2 film, OUIJA is up to $35 million after two weeks. The #4 film, GONE GIRL, had grossed over $136 million, so far. THE JUDGE, now in its fourth week, has only grossed $39 million.
Last week's top average per screen movie, BIRD MAN, does it for a second straight week. In just over 230 screens, the Michael Keaton movie grossed $2.5 million, for an average of $10,900 per screen. No movie in the top 10 could average over $4 million per screen.
