US Box Office Results: November 7 - 9, 2014

The new big releases combined for over $100 million this weekend with Disney's BIG HERO 6 edging Christopher Nolan's INTERSTELLAR, $56 million to $50 million, respectively. Both movies did very well, focusing on mostly different audiences. BIG HERO 6 brought in the families and kids to the theater, while INTERSTELLAR attracted the adults crowd.

For Christopher Nolan, this is his worst opening weekend since THE PRESTIGE, in 2008. That movie brought in just under $15 its opening weekend. Look for this movie to bring in around $150 million, domestically.

After the top two movies, it was a dramatic drop to the #3 move, GONE GIRL, which collected only $6.1 million, its sixth weekend out.

Last week's #1 movie, NIGHTCRAWLER, dropped to the #6 spot, with only $5.5 million in receipts. with under $20 million in its first 10 days of release, NIGHTCRAWLER will be lucky if it can reach $30 million
