Three new movies went to battle for this weekends top spot, but it was the second week movie GONE GIRL that is king, for the second week in a row The thriller drama collected another $26.8 million, besting the $23.5 million by DRACULA UNTOLD and the $19.1 million by ALEXANDER/BAD DAY. GONE GIRL brings its grand total to over $78 million, topping the $61 million production budget.
The disappointment of the weekend was the heavily promoted THE JUDGE, starring Robert Downey Jr. The drama could only grab $13 million for its opening weekend and will fall far short of the $50 million production budget.
Sleeper movie of the weekend was the provocative thriller ADDICTED, placing 7th for the weekend, the film generated $7.6 million on just under 850 screens. That is about 75% less screens than the other major releases, and ADDICTED had the highest per screen average ($8,900) than any other film, including GONE GIRL
