TOP 10: Shows to be Cancelled in 2014
We are about a month into the 2014-15 TV season and we have yet to see a full out cancellation by a network. FOX has scaled back UTOPIA to just one night, but it still lives on Fridays. Here is our list for the ten most likely show to be cancelled, with the #1 show being the first to go.
10) FOREVER (ABC)
The series started out surprisingly strong, the first week out, but has since dropped to a low one in the A18-49 ratings. It should get all 13 episodes initially ordered on to the air as ABC may wait and fix other spots before deciding on FOREVER.
9) SELFIE (ABC)
The two ABC Tuesday night comedies were nearly DOA at the start. SELFIE is the better performing comedy, of the two, but it is 4th in its time slot, slipping closer to FOX, at #5.
8) GRACEPOINT (FOX)
The series is only 10 episode long, so FOX may stick it out for the remaining eight episodes. But, will all eight air on Thursday nights? Other clunkers on the FOX schedule will get attention before GRACEPOINT.
7) RED BAND SOCIETY (FOX)
FOX cant cancel everything at the same time, but the drama's time is very limited. Surviving past Thanksgiving will depend on how aggressive FOX will get wen the axe comes out.
6) REIGN (CW)
Pretty much the only drama to look bad, so far. The CW needs a stronger series to follow THE VAMPIRE DIARIES. As strong as everything else has been working for the network, REIGN becomes a glaring problem that the network could afford to cut lose, despite any commitment given, in May.
5) MARRY ME (NBC)
Shooting at this one blindly, as it has yet to have its series premiere. The numbers should be good, initially, as it follows THE VOICE, on Tuesday nights. But, NBC does not want to have another GO ON on its hands and invest in a bad comedy that only does well with a great lead in. If the retention level is bad, NBC will act quickly.
4) UTOPIA (FOX)
This series should already be off the air, but FOX looks to be "all in" with the series. But at some point, the network has to pull the plug. And it will once the CW beat it on Friday nights.
3) A TO Z (NBC)
Doing horrible retention numbers out of BAD JUDGE. it is the weakest point on a relatively weak night. All NBC eyes are on A TO Z.
2) MANHATTAN LOVE STORY (ABC)
Like A TO Z, MANHATTAN LOVE STORY is the weakest point of the ABC schedule. The ratings are getting worse with each week. Expect ABC to get rid of MLS before the November sweeps.
1) MULANEY (FOX)
It was a toss up between MULANEY and the previous two sitcoms. Since FOX is in the worse shape, they will make a move soon and MULANEY is the weakest show on the schedule, after UTOPIA. FOX can do an easy fix with repeats of its animates shows, to improve the numbers.
10) FOREVER (ABC)
The series started out surprisingly strong, the first week out, but has since dropped to a low one in the A18-49 ratings. It should get all 13 episodes initially ordered on to the air as ABC may wait and fix other spots before deciding on FOREVER.
