Preliminary Ratings: Tuesday 10/21/14
Week two of the new NBC comedies didn't do horrible, on Tuesday night. MARRY ME retained 80% of its viewership and 83% of the A18-49 ratings. That is, if THE VOICE does not take any numbers away from the comedy, when finals are released. ABOUT A BOY dipped under five million viewers, losing 900,000 from last week. The demo ratings dropped 18%, from the previous week. For the hour, NBC placed a distant second place, on a relatively weak time slot.
ABC's comedies are not do well either. MANHATTAN LOVE STORY was the lowest rated program of the night, in the A18-49 demo, including The CW shows. SELFIE was third lowest and heldped ABC finish last, or 5th place, in the 8 p.m. hour. I expect some sort of announcement from ABC on at least one of comedies, if not both, sometime today, Thursday at the latest.
Game one of the 2014 World Series helped push FOX to the top of Tuesday night, drawing 10.7 million viewers and a 2.9 demo rating. These numbers will adjust up, when finals are released, but currently, the World Series is down 3.7 million viewers and 31% in the demo, compared to last year's game 1, played on a Wednesday night.
NCIS: NEW ORLEANS is doing good retention numbers behind the parent series. The freshman crime series held onto 94% of all viewers and 100% of the A18-49 demographic. A solid
