US Box Office Results: September 19 - 21, 2014
Three new movies topped the box office this past weekend, lead by the action drama THE MAZE RUNNER, with $32.5 million in total receipts. That nearly matches the movie's total production budget of $34 million. The drama easily topped the new Liam Neeson film A WALK AMONG THE TOOMSTONES, which was markets as if it was TAKE 3, and not a new franchise.
Taking the #3 spot was the dramedy film THIS IS WHERE I LEAVE YOU, with just under $12 million. The all-star ensemble cast didn't help draw in large audiences, but should make it's production budget of $19 million, back
Last week's #1 movie, NO GOOD DEED, remained strong, taking the #4 spot and bringing it's total up over $40 million. That is more than three times the production budget of $13 million.
