Preliminary Ratings: Sunday 09/14/14
Football rules Sunday night, as it will for the next five months, with NBC easily taking the night in both reported ratings categories. SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL commanded 19.9 million viewers, down significantly from last week's 23.7 million viewers. Part of the decrease could come from the long play of the first half, which took nearly 30 extra minutes, than your average NFL game. That could be the reason for the drop off in viewership, on the back end of the night.
The 2015 MISS AMERICA PAGEANT saw heavy losses, from year ago ratings. The 2015 edition drew six million viewers and a 1.6 demo rating. That is down 2.7 million viewers and 20% in the A18-49 numbers. it is time for these pageants to end. They are irrelevant in today's world and "tradition" is about the only thing keeping them going.
Over nine million viewers watched the last Sunday edition of BIG BROTHER, an possibbly getting the most viewers of the season. But, with the football overrun, that number could drop in finals. However, the number should stay strong as the strong season comes to a close.
UNFORGETTABLE called it a summer as the two hour, double episode, finale collected somewhere in the range of 6.3 million viewers and a 1.1 demo rating. But, nearly all of the second episode aired after 11 p.m., so those numbers could see a downturn, once finals are released on Tuesday.
