Preliminary Ratings: Wednesday 07/09/14
CBS had an easy time sweeping the night, thanks to a solid performance by BIG BROTHER and a good sampling of the new series EXTANT and a time slot win by CRIMINAL MINDS.
EXTANT, the new summer drama, starring Hale Berry, was the night's most watched show of the night, drawing 0.4 million viewers. it was also the #2 show of the night, in the A18-49 ratings, behind BIG BROTHER. The series premiere grew by 54% in total viewer and retained 89% of the young demographic audience. Over all, not a bad premiere, in the middle of summer.
At 10 p.m., CRIMINAL MINDS won the time period, in both viewers and demo ratings, against two original programs. TAXI BROOKLYN stayed steady in the A18-49 numbers, but dropped about 10% of it's total viewers, from last week. MOTIVE rose in the ratings, but started so far behind, that the additional numbers still landed in last place.
SP YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE dropped to a season low, drawing just a 1.2 rating in Adults 18-49. The added competition from CBS, in the last few weeks, has really taken a toll on the dance competition series. This has got to be the series final year. The numbers only get worse. It can barely hold off ABC's comedy encores, for third place.
