Preliminary Ratings: Sunday 07/06/14

CBS and ABC split the Sunday of the long Independence Day weekend, with ABC edging out with a A18-49 demographic win, while CBS easily coasts to a total viewer victory, 50% above the nearest competition. But, it was NBC that tanked on both fronts.

NBC gave us two hours of a Miley Cyrus concert that drew almost no one to their TV sets. Just two million viewers watched the music special. It was the second least watched show of the night, topping FOX's special BRAIN GAMES, at 7 p.m. NBC might have done better with a AMERICA'S GOT TALENT encore.

CBS posted the night's #1 show, in BIG BROTHER. The reality series collected six million viewers and a 1.8 demo rating. That is near even with last week's Sunday episode, despite being a holiday weekend. But, BIG BROTHER was not enough to overtake ABC. The two crime dramas that followed BIG BROTHER do not have a big A18-49 draw and brought down the average, big time.

ABC's RISING STAR is not doing great numbers, but it is staying even with last week's ratings. A good sign of stability and possible renewal for 2015.

CBS - 6.1 million viewers, 1.0 rating in A18-49

CW - 0.0 million viewers, 0.0 rating in A18-49

FOX - 2.1 million viewers, 0.9 rating in A18-49

NBC - 2.3 million viewers, 0.7 rating in A18-49
