Preliminary Ratings: Monday 07/28/14

ABC, NBC and FOX all had strong showing in the Monday night ratings, as the three networks were all within two tenths of a ratings points, in the A18-49 demographic, from each other, with ABC getting a strong 2.0 rating. All three networks had at least one program score a 2.0, or better, in the demo numbers.

ABC, with it's season finale of THE BACHELORETTE and the AFTER THE ROSE special, swept the night and had the most watched program and the highest rated show, in the demo ratings. AFTER THE ROSE scored 7.9 million viewers and a 2.1 demo, topping THE BACHELORETTE finale in viewers and tying AMERICAN NINJA WARRIOR in the A18-49 numbers. Both BACHELORETTE programs were down significantly, from last year's finale. in 2013, the season finale drew just under 9 million viewers and a 2.6 demo, while AFTER THE ROSE collected 8.3 million viewers and a 2.5 demo rating.

ON FOX, MASTERCHEF drew it's best numbers of the season, getting to the 2.0 demo rating level for the first time this season. The cooking series topped THE BACHELORETTE in the demo and was second in total viewers.

NBC gave us the series premiere of RUNNING WILD WITH BEAR GRYLLS and the numbers are positive, despite a third place showing in both measured categories. Last year's GET OUT ALIVE WITH BEAR GRYLLS pulled in similar numbers for it's series premiere, in early July.

The CW's coverage of the YOUNG HOLLYWOOD AWARDS didn't tank in the ratings. It took a hit without WHOSE LINE in the mix, but is an improvement over the two comedies, which were cancelled last week.

Expect NBC and CW numbers to drop as a sports preemption in one market, for each network, will be dismissed.

CBS - 5.0 million viewers, 1.1 rating in A18-49

CW - 0.8 million viewers, 0.3 rating in A18-49

FOX - 4.8 million viewers, 1.8 rating in A18-49

NBC - 5.4 million viewers, 1.8 rating in A18-49
