Final Broadcast Ratings: July 16, 2014
CBS sweeps Wednesday night, on the strength of it's summer staple, BIG BROTHER, and new sci-fi drama EXTANT. The network won every hour of the night, in the A18-49 ratings, and had three of the top four most watched programs. Only a repeat of AMERICA'S GOT TALENT topping a repeat of CRIMINAL MINDS spoiled a perfect night for CBS.
Week two of EXTANT didn't do bad retention numbers. The 8.0 million viewers and 1.5 demo rating is down 16% in total viewers, but just 6 % in the A18-49 ratings. Still a good number for the series, but not a strong showing.
BIG BROTHER is up from last week, getting two extra tenths of a ratings point and about 200k more viewers. It is looking like this could be a good summer for the veteran reality series and is the backbone of the network's summer line up.
At 10 p.m., TAXI BROOKLYN dropped again to tie MOTIVE in the demo ratings. TAXI BROOKLYN has lost a tenth of a point, in the A18-49 ratings, each of the last two weeks. But, both series are pulling in small numbers, when you compare the repeat of CRIMINAL MINDS drew more viewers and a better A18-49 ratings, to easily sweep the hour.
Becoming more of an after thought, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, drew is worst numbers of the season. It tied for 4th in the hour, equalling the ABC comedies. FOX needs to refresh it's line up instead of relying on declining, old shows.
