Final Broadcast Ratings: July 1, 2014
NBC had an easy time dominating the TV landscape on Tuesday night. The network more than doubled the next closest network, in the A18-49 ratings, and had over 50% more total viewers than CBS. NBC owns Tuesday nights, in the summer time.
Just renewed for a second season, THE NIGHT SHIFT showed how it earned that renewal. It grabbed 6.9 million viewers and a 1.5 demo ratings, which is an increase of 1.0 million viewers and 17% rise in the demo, over last week's numbers. The difference can have some attribution to a new AMERICA'S GOT TALENT, this week, but we have seen too many shows tank with great lead ins. THE NIGHT SHIFT is not one of those shows.
As we mentions, AGT was back with a new episode, after taking last Tuesday off, and was the #1 show of the night, drawing 11 million viewers and a 2.6 demo rating. The A18-49 ratings were even from two weeks ago, but viewership is down.
ABC had a tough time in the ratings, despite an all original line up. The network drew just half the viewers CBS brought in, while CBS was in all-repeat mode, and bare edged CBS in the A18-49 ratings. If ABC's new programming can barely compete with CBS' encores, it is going to be a very long summer for the network.
